Sustain Ontario, the Alliance for Food and Farming, has compiled a list of “Good Food Policies” it wants the Ontario government to adopt.
“Good food policies and programs have the potential to grow Ontario’s economy, reduce our health care spending, improve our environmental impact, reduce poverty, and improve educational outcomes,” says the Sustain Ontario release.
“If adopted, the following good food policy and program ideas would not only position Ontario as a leader in food, farming, health, sustainability, and economy, but would ensure the future prosperity and wellbeing of our province.”

Sustain Ontario has also created sector specific food policy briefs for health, the economy, environment, and education; and are about to launch Policies from Other Places, inspiring examples of good food policy from around the world.
If you would like to participate in a provincial election working group and champion food issues in your riding this Fall, please contact Carolyn Young of Sustain to get involved.
